YOGA OFF THE MAT

This will be a once a month event to bring our entire community together and talk about bringing Yoga into our everyday lives – living yoga off the mat!
Yoga is so much more than just physical asana and we will explore the many ways this means….
From traditional yoga practises, Vedic studies, to really getting to know each other in our community and also as a forum for conscious activism and awakening.
Personal empowerment and social change are massive topics but they all start from each individual drop in the ocean – that being within you.
A percentage of profits will be donated to various charities….

TUESDAY 08 MARCH – YOGAWOMAN

5:30pm Yoga with Emily Odillo Maher
7pm Auyervedic vegetarian dinner by Heart & Halo
7:30pm YOGAWOMAN panel discussion with three generations of incredible Yoginis from our shire – Chloe Thorogood, Nikki Elwin and TBC
8pm – showing of the documentary YOGAWOMAN

About the Film:
Yoga was brought to the west from India by a lineage of male teachers. Now there's a generation of women who are leading the way. They're strong they're inspiring and they're radically changing peoples lives. From the busy streets of Manhattan to the dusty slums of Kenya YOGAWOMAN uncovering a global phenomenon that has changed the face of yoga forever.

A quiet revolution brews in yoga studios, hospitals, and living rooms around the globe: In record numbers, women are discovering their own strength, vitality, peace, and power through yoga. Reclaiming this ancient spiritual path from its traditionally male form, the result is a radical transformation of modern yoga, as we know it.

Led by a new generation of dynamic female teachers, this "new" yoga replaces the male-centered, rigid style with a distinctly feminine practice that honors intuition, family, flow, connection, community, activism, and the cyclical nature of women's lives.
YOGAWOMAN is a groundbreaking film that captures this fascinating time of awakening female power.

After Paris- Where to Now for Byron….and the World?

Late last year, Mayor Simon Richardson was sent to Paris courtesy of a crowd funding campaign to showcase Byron Shire at the UNFCCC- Paris Climate Change Conference.

On Friday, February 5, he will be sharing with you what happened whilst there.

What happened on a global scale and what happened for Byron? Simon will be sharing images, videos and information. “ From discussions with global mayors, to meditating with Amazonian elders, I’m looking forward to sharing with you the happenings and aspects of the Paris conference and the opportunities for Byron that have resulted.”

Joining Simon, renewable energy journalist Giles Parkinson, will put Paris in a global context and inform us as to what we may face in the near future.
